FAQ

How does Mitipot work?

Mitipot comes in two parts: a handmade clay pot and the ingredients designed to cook inside it. Every meal follows the same three-step system — Base, Protein, Finish — all completed by you in the pot. The ingredients arrive slow-cooked, pre-portioned, and ready for the final cook, with a detailed guide for every dish.

What comes with First Fire?

One handmade Mitipot, five Bases, three Proteins, four Tadka finishing oils, Bloomasala, and detailed cooking guides. Together the included ingredients make five dishes — ten servings total.

How much cooking do I actually have to do?

We handle the slow, time-consuming work upfront. Combine the ingredients in the pot, follow the guide, and complete the final cook yourself. It takes about fifteen to twenty minutes. No chopping, measuring, or long ingredient list required.

Can I make the meals my own?

Absolutely. First Fire is fully vegan as supplied, but Mitipot is designed to be flexible. Use the included proteins, or add your own chicken, lamb, beef, paneer, tofu, or vegetables. You can also add butter, cream, or anything else that suits the way you cook. The Base gives you the foundation. The rest is yours.

Will Mitipot work on my stove?

Mitipot works on gas and electric cooktops. Clay works best with gradual, controlled heat, so avoid the highest setting and follow the heat guidance included with your pot. Always begin with food or liquid in the pot — never heat it empty.

How do I store the ingredients?

The sealed ingredients are shelf-stable for six months and do not need refrigeration before opening. Once opened, refrigerate any unused product and follow the storage instructions printed on the pouch.

How long does the pot last, and how do I care for it?

A Mitipot is designed for approximately fifteen to twenty-five cooks, depending on heat, handling, and care. Heat it gradually, avoid sudden temperature changes, hand wash it gently with no soap, and let it dry completely before storing.

When it has given what it had, retire it. Fill it with soil, plant something in it, and let it return to the ground it came from.

What happens after I finish First Fire?

Mitipot is designed as an ongoing cooking system, not a one-time box. Refills are not on sale yet — First Fire is a limited first release, and refills follow shortly after. When they open, you will reorder the ingredients without buying the pot again.

Is it sustainable?

The clay pot is biodegradable. The ingredients are pre-portioned to reduce food waste, and because they are shelf-stable they do not require a refrigerated cold chain. We do use a small amount of plastic in the retort pouches to keep the food safe and shelf-stable, and we will continue working to reduce that packaging over time.
